Somebody said scan every page of a friends' yearbook. Tell you what, why don't I just stop fighting to live and let a foster home give her more security and a yearbook every year for sure as they encourage her to rise from under her unfortunate circumstances, justifying the purchase after the fall of the ax, and patting themselves on the back as the program that "turned her around" after she wins a Pulitzer. |
This was scanned from a thick, fat, wonderful book called Hillsborough Council of Teachers of English Spring Writing Contest 2003 Winning Entries. I would have died to get my hands on anything similar in high school--chock-full of the winning poems, stories, and non-fiction of the county's students this school year . Mary recieved a copy free yesterday with a trophy and breakfast banquet., for winning second place in poetry, 9th grade.. To a budding writer, such a book of one's peers work is a dream coming true..Some of the poem titles, some of the stories are irresistable. But I couldn't afford the yearbook! |
